| Project Warm-Up To Aid The Homeless... | |
|
On Ash Wednesday night we began the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday service. If you are wondering what you’d like to GIVE UP for Lent this year, let us make a suggestion: The Deacons, with Deacon Stevi at the helm of the project, are sponsoring PROJECT WARM-UP. The goal is to help the homeless living in Rochester and provide warmth to those who have little or inadequate shelter. Here’s what we want you to give up: New sleeping bags, hats, socks, and gloves/mittens. We will roll a hat, socks and gloves into each sleeping bag and distribute them to those in need via The Salvation Army, The Dorothy Day House, and the Post Bulletin reporters, Jeff and Jerry (who know where these people are living). Please bring these items beginning Ash Wednesday THROUGH Easter Sunday. Let’s GIVE IT UP for the homeless this year, Amen? To make a donation contact the church at 507-252-9086 or Stevi at 507-285-1760, if you need these articles picked up. |

| Community Outreach... | |
|
At our annual congregational meeting, we spoke about the
importance of getting our name out there into the great community through
a variety of venues. In February, our pastor had the privilege of being
the guest speaker at a Civitan meeting. Civitan is a service organization
here in Rochester and they recognized various clergy in February. Pastor
Nancy had the opportunity to share the mission of Healing Spirit MCC with
them. She left them brochures and pens as well. Recently she received a call from a member of Bethel Lutheran church asking if she would share her percussion abilities with them for this year's production of "THE PROMISE to ROCHESTER 2007". It seems they needed a drummer who could play the trap set during some of the numbers. Although the rehearsal and show schedule will keep her very busy over the coming month, she agreed to lend her services. When you attend this year's production (six shows to choose from), you will see her name along with Healing Spirit MCC next to it! Let's continue to find ways to get our name out there to the greater community! Little or small, we never know who we might touch. |
|
| From the Board... | |
|
There will be no Board meeting in February due to the annual congregational forum and meeting. The next meeting will be held on March 13th at 7:00pm in the church conference room. All Board meetings are open to the congregation. |
